June is Men’s Health Month, yet mental health is often overlooked. CDC data shows men are less likely to seek therapy, even though male suicide rates are 3.9x higher than females (CDC, 2024). As a PMHNP, I see many male patients internalize stress due to social stigma.
5 Tips to Support Men’s Mental Health:
Talk openly: Vulnerability is strength.
Promote check-ins: Ask how male friends are really doing.
Normalize therapy: Frame it like a mental gym.
Limit substances: Alcohol can worsen depression.
Stay physically active: Movement boosts mood.
